Sidra International Organization
Main Goals: Resettlement, Rehabilitation, Rebuilding
Sidra is committed to humanitarian, economic, social, and legal support for four groups affected by various conflicts and wars, encompassing all possible affected categories:
Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs): Providing legal, economic, health, and psychological support, and facilitating voluntary return when they wish to do so.
Refugees in Neighboring Countries and Elsewhere: Offering legal support, empowering them in host countries, and assisting with their voluntary return when desired.
Residents in Conflict Zones: Those who have not left either due to personal choice or circumstances, and remain in or near conflict areas. Sidra aims to protect their lives and properties, provide psychological and health support to help them feel safe, and work on compensating for the material and psychological damage they have suffered.
Returnees: Offering economic and legal support, and providing health and psychological rehabilitation to help them restore normal life and revitalize their land, while also compensating for the damages they have endured.
Thus, we are talking about four communities with similar characteristics, all impacted by political, social, and wartime conflicts:Internally Displaced Persons, Refugees, Returnees, Residents in conflict zones.
At the core of these planned efforts lies the idea of both physical and moral reconstruction and fostering a spirit of peace among people.
Meaning of “Sidra”:
Sidra is a semi-desert tree that has a high capacity to endure harsh natural conditions. It is a fruitful tree that grows naturally and is close to people. It symbolizes our global humanitarian organization, which currently focuses on the Horn of Africa and North Africa, as these are among the regions most affected by wars and social and ethnic conflicts. As a result, large numbers of people suffer from displacement and refuge, while some are attempting to return under unfavorable conditions. Meanwhile, residents in conflict zones face severe hardship, economic deprivation, human rights injustices, and a lack of basic life necessities such as security and peace.
These are the groups targeted by Sidra’s activities. We strive to empower these groups affected by chronic conflicts, strengthen their internal bonds, and foster cohesion based on their traditions, ideals, and noble values. We also work collaboratively whenever possible with local partners, such as organizations and authorities, as well as regional and international partners, including states and UN organizations, with a focus on justice and transparency.
Currently, our primary concern is the situation in Sudan and its people, in line with Sidra’s stated vision, mission, and goals.
Sidra Organization is still in the process of establishment, but is already working towards achieving its goals, even at a minimum level, and we expect full establishment to be completed by the end of May, as per the announced plan.
