Sidra is an independent, non-profit international humanitarian organization that works to activate a comprehensive humanitarian pathway, independent of politics and militarization. It places the human being at the center of action and addresses material and moral needs as inherent rights that are neither conditional nor subject to delay. Sidra adopts an integrated approach based on five interconnected pillars that together encompass the full cycle of human life:
The Human Being: Protection of life, preservation of dignity, smart humanitarian assistance, empowerment, education, healthcare, and psychosocial support, without discrimination or conditions.
Heritage and Civilizational Memory: Protection of identity and cultural rights, documentation of collective memory, and safeguarding of heritage and human legacy as an integral part of human dignity.
Culture and Creativity: Support for arts and human expression as tools for healing, resilience, hope-building, and for fostering connections between communities.
Social Peacebuilding: Promotion of coexistence, community reconciliation, dismantling hate speech, and reinforcing values of goodness and beauty through grassroots initiatives.
Environment and Wild Life: Protection of natural resources, support for ecological balance, and preservation of sustainability foundations as a prerequisite for human survival and livelihoods.
Sidra operates according to the principles of full independence, neutrality, transparency, decentralization, and reliance on self-driven efforts, while maintaining a conscious openness to humanitarian partnerships that respect these principles. The organization adopts a smart-network model rather than heavy bureaucratic structures, empowering local communities to lead humanitarian action, with a coordinating role focused on knowledge-sharing, documentation, avoiding duplication, and maximizing impact.
Sidra is neither a political entity, nor a party to any conflict, nor a conventional funding mechanism. Rather, it is an ethical humanitarian platform that works from people, to people, and with people, and believes that humanitarian action is a continuous right that does not wait for political outcomes or balances of power.
